It’s a Small World After All

I’ve had my first blog world meets real world experience.  Now I do read a number of blogs of people I know.  Some I've met in college like Jenn and Ms. Mayhem.  Others in med school like Shan and Mommy (to-be) MD.  But a lot of blogs I read I've happened upon by accident.  Incidently, I now realize I actually know the person who's blog I've read for a while....or so I think.

My preceptor and favorite doctor/teacher, Dr. McD,  has a sister who is a physician, Dr. P.  I've seen Dr. P as a patient in student health before, but don't know much more about her than that.  A few weeks ago, Dr. McD was showing me a picture of her new, adopted neice, who looked very familiar.  The new daughter is about 4 months old, bi-racial, and adopted from Mississippi at birth.  Even MORE familiar.  Then it hit me, it's a blog I read.   And it probably belongs to Dr. P.

Of course, I just shrugged it off as a coincidence.  What are the chances that out of all the blogs on the internet, I would happen across her blog.  Especially when she goes out of her way not to make it personally identifying.  Then tonight, we had a get together with Dr. McD.  I asked how her sister was still working at a local suburban hospital.  No, she lost her job, but had recently found another with the local osteopathic school.  That confirmed it.  I do indeed know the blogger behind the blog.  And reaffirmed how small even the internet world is.
